The Frog Prince

The Memphis based “Playhouse on the Square” will perform ”The Frog Prince” on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm in E. E. Bass Auditorium in Greenville, Mississippi as part of their Theatre for Youth program.  The admissions fee is $ 5 per child with teachers and aids admitted free.  The story unfolds as a handsome young prince who offends a wicked fairy has been turned into an ugly frog.  Also in the land their is a beautiful princess who loses her golden ball down a garden well.  The little ugly frog “prince” also lives in the well and he is the only one who can retrieve her golden ball.  But when the frog asks for a kiss in return, the princess goes to great lenghts to avoid him.  The result is a fun and funny look at what happens when we get what we think we want.  This hilarious take on the classic tale not only pokes fun at our human foibles, but at the very nature of the fairy tale as well.  This Theatre for Youth production runs 55 to 60 minutes with a cast of 5 to 7 actors and is age appropriate for K thru 6th grade.
