Predators – the Exhibit
“Step into the world of Predators. If you dare!” The Museum of Discovery’s traveling children’s musuem exhibition “Predators” will be in the Mississipp Delta for three months opening January 15, 2012 through April 15, 2012 and will be located in the Greenville Mall, Greenville, MS. The exhibition will be open to the public seven days per week Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm with Sundays 1:00 pm until 4:30 pm. The museum exhibition admission fee is $5 per person. The 2,400 sq. ft. self-contained educational hands-on interactive exhibit offers audiences insight into the lives of some of the most dangerous animals that have ever inhabited our planet. Visitors to the exhibition will explore how predators are equipped to fulfill their role in the natural world. What do house cats and saber-tooth tigers have in common? Visitors can shapren their wits through a variety of interactive activities that illustrate the similarities and differences between predators from around the globe and throughout history. The audience can hone their senses and experience how each predator tracks, captures and kills their prey and how their environment influences their abilities. Visitors can dive in and see how a shark senses its prey under water and compare that with how a hawk hunts from the sky. Then, reverse roles and jump in the shark cage and see what it is like to be the prey of a 15 foot Great White Shark! Predators examines a wide range of both contemporary and prehistoric animals. Learn about differnet predators ranging from a hugh orca to a tiny praying mantis. Study a T-Rex skull and see how it stacks up against modern predators. “Predators” is an attraction to be enjoyed by the entire family and will interest to all age ranges and grade levels. One Saturday each month will feature a special learning session about different predators. Four Saturday sessions will be offered. The sessions will be one hour featuring an activity, snack, and special guest to educate children about predators. The sessions are $10 per child per session, and will also include free admission for one accompaning adult. A special “Predator Pass” is available for $50 which includes a Predator T-Shirt, unlimited entry into the Predators Exhibit, and free entry to all Saturday Sessions. An on-site Museum Store filled with unique gift items ranging from the offical “Predators” T-Shirt to puzzels and small souviners. Special “Field Trip” hours are dedicated for school groups to attend.
